Immunity in a Jar: Crafting Winter Fire Cider

Join us for a hands-on herbal workshop exploring the history, traditional uses, and practical magic of Fire Cider—a warming winter tonic made with garlic, onion, ginger, horseradish, and cayenne pepper steeped in apple cider vinegar and rooted in folk herbalism.

We’ll explore how pungent roots, warming herbs, and traditional spices work together in seasonal wellness practices and help bring warmth to the body during the colder months. This class includes a short presentation, live demonstration, tasting of three Fire Cider varieties, and guided instruction on crafting your own.

Participants will leave with practical knowledge, firsthand tasting experience, and helpful resources for continuing to make Fire Cider at home.

What You’ll Learn

  • The folk origins and evolution of Fire Cider
  • The key constituents and traditional uses of garlic, onion, horseradish, ginger, cayenne, and other supporting ingredients
  • How to prepare three Fire Cider varieties: classic, bramble and evergreen, and turmeric-spicebush-rosemary
  • How to confidently craft herbal preparations at home using simple, accessible ingredients
